DESIGNING VISIONS

Situation

Does Blue Skies Thinking and other management clichés work for you? Or do you think they lack the precision to produce effective thinking? And who exactly teaches you how to come up with a vision, let alone translate it into a robust project? Can any of this be taught, or is it all down to exhortation and inspiration? Let’s hope not.

Solution

The only consistent solution is to understand the nature of how creativity works. To shape it into a process that can be relied on time and time again. That’s what visual tools can do for you. And, most importantly, for your leadership team too. Visual tools stimulate cross connections and unforeseen permutations. They encourage exploration and What If? thinking. By being visual and public they catalyse and capture group creativity.

Benefits

By using visual tools as part of your envisioning process, you can expect to see you and your team:

  • - Approaching the future from alternative perspectives
  • - Adding more exploration and adventure to creativity
  • - Jump starting the process by inviting new connections and view points
  • - Probing the validity of first solutions until rigorously analysed
  • - Stimulating creative discussions in your teams

In Practice

In 2005-2006 Model Learning worked with Stockport Local Authority to run the HeadView1 course. Focusing on Designing a Vision the course was tailored to newly qualified heads and their leadership teams. The previous year Model Learning worked with established heads. The work was highly successful and we can put you in touch with the personnel who booked it.
