COMPARE: MATRIX

What does it do?

A Matrix is a diagram that captures and organizes the features of numerous topics for direct comparison.

  1. How do you make it?
  2. Identify the characteristics or elements of the various topics you want compared
  3. List these features along the top axis
  4. List the topics along the side axis (or indeed the other way around)
  5. Assign a feature to a topic by ticking in the box where the row and column intersect.
  6. Repeat until all features have been assigned accurately to the topics

When do you use it?

A Matrix is useful for:

Identifying the commonalities among a range of different topics Making comparisons over a large array of features that would otherwise be too complex to be apparent
