DEFINE: SINGLE BUBBLE

What does it do?

A Single Bubble is a simple way of identifying the parts, or characteristics, of a topic under review. Its main purpose is to initiate thinking on a topic and to capture it easily without any undue organisation.

  1. How do you make it?
  2. Write the name of the topic in the centre bubble
  3. Write down the features, or parts, of the topic in smaller bubbles around the centre
  4. Link these smaller bubbles, with lines, to the centre bubble

When do you use it?

A Single Bubble is useful for:

  • Capturing initial ideas about a topic
  • As a starting point when learners are unsure of how to organize their work
  • When you want to see how similar / different initial responses are to a shared stimulus
  • Preparing further thinking such as comparing, sequencing or finding causes
